Video production rate card template

A rate card is most useful when the unit and inclusion are clear. Build a starting point for consistent quotes while leaving room for the requirements of each production.

Name the unit before entering the price

A service called “Editing” could mean an hour, a day or a finished film. Use clear descriptions such as “Editing / day”, “Camera operator / day” or “Interview film package”. Keep the service boundary in an adjacent note.

List what is normally included and what triggers a separate quote. Travel, specialist equipment, additional formats and extended review rounds are easier to discuss when they are visible.

Keep selling rates separate from costs

Your supplier costs, operating overheads and selling prices answer different questions. A rate card stores what you propose to charge; it does not by itself prove the production is profitable. Review expected effort and outside costs before using the rate in a real quote.

The download contains empty rate cells, not suggested market prices. Choose values based on your own business, scope and commercial judgement.

Use it as a starting point

Enter your commonly quoted services in company settings. New quotes can begin with those lines, then change the descriptions, quantities and rates for the brief. Fixed packages use quantity one; mixed pricing uses separate lines.

The CSV is a planning worksheet. The app’s contact importer does not import rate cards, so transfer the agreed services into Settings manually. Changes to defaults do not rewrite saved quote versions or variation prices. Price approved extra work separately from the original agreement.

Use the template

Adapt the fields to your own production and review the details before sharing it with a client.

Common questions

Do I need one pricing model for every client?

No. Your company rate card is a default. Each quote can use hourly, daily, package or mixed line items with its own agreed scope.

Can I import this CSV into the CRM?

Not yet. It is a worksheet for preparing your services. Enter rate-card lines in company settings; the existing CSV importer is for contacts.
